Chester teens take home crowns

WINNSBORO — Two teens from Chester took home the homecoming awards to cap off Spirit Week at Richard Winn Academy.

The RWA Homecoming Queen crown went to senior Sarah Grier Thompson on Sept. 27. This was the second homecoming crown for Thompson who also won in 2011.

Thompson was escorted by her cousin, Chandler. She represented senior running back, punter and linebacker Austin Knox.

She is daughter of Lori and Marvin Waldrep and Shannon and Jim Thompson. Sophomore Megan Simpson took home the Sweetheart Award. The Football Sweethart Award winner represented junior quarterback Matt Taylor. Simpson is the daughter of Lori and Tom Simpson.

After they were crowned the girls posed for photographs before climbing into a convertible for the traditional victory lap around the Richard Winn football field.
