Fairfield wins rivalry game over Chester

WINNSBORO — The Fairfield Central (2-0) girls’ basketball team came away with an impressive 66-48 win over their county-line rivals, the Cyclones of Chester on Dec. 10.

After the first quarter Fairfield led just 12-9, but used a 23 point explosion in the second quarter to lead 35-19 at halftime.

Jada Martin was named player of the game after notching her first double-double of the season with a game high 24 points and 11 rebounds. Martin shot 10 of 19 from the floor including 3-6 from the free throw line.

As a team, the Lady Griffins shot 40 percent from the floor.

Raven Rivers and Chyna Moore also cracked double digits in scoring with 12 and 11 respectively.

Senior point guard Christian Thompson grabbed a season high seven steals. As a team, the Lady Griffs swiped Chester 23 times.

Tonight Fairfield Central will host Great Falls (0-2). The two teams played less than a week ago, when Fairfield blew out Great Falls 61-12.

Tip-off at Fairfield Central is scheduled for 6 p.m.
