WINNSBORO — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office reported that the First Citizen’s bank in Ridgeway was robbed at 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Chief Deputy Keith Lewis, a white male walked into the bank and demanded money.

The bank teller handed over what she had in the drawer and the offender ran out with $934 in cash and got into a pickup truck in an alley across the street by Laura’s Tea Room.

Lewis said he headed south and out of town. There was no chase that ensued.

The Sheriff’s Office is awaiting video footage from the robbery to help identity the perpetrator.

Witnesses described the subject as wearing a heavy camouflage jacket with blue jeans.

Lewis said he kept his hand over his forehead to cover his face, but was not carrying a weapon.

The case is under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call 803-635-4141.
