RIDGEWAY — Ridgeway Mayor Charlene Herring and town council recognized Denise Jones for her service as the chair of board of directors of the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce from 2013-2014.
“Tonight we would like to recognize Denise Jones for her work as chair of the Board of Directors of the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce,” Herring told council and the public during Thursday night’s regular scheduled meeting.
Herring read a statement that resonated with her that was recently made by Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce President Terry Vickers.
“Denise (Jones), she gets it,” Herring reiterated Vicker’s statement. “She (Jones) gets the value of community, businesses and government working together to make a better quality of life.”
Herring emphasized that Jones has nurtured businesses not only in Ridgeway, but in Winnsboro as well.
“I think about all the things she has done from the cookbook, the monthly Chamber of Commerce breakfasts and also the Big Grab, which is one of the biggest events in Fairfield County,” she said.
The 2014 Big Grab-43 Mile Yard Sale will be held all day Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 in Blythewood, Ridgeway and Winnsboro. For more information about this year’s event, contact the following:

New Chairman of the Board of Directors (2014-2015), Mike Kelly, spoke well about Jones’ leadership.
“I hope that I can do for Winnsboro, what has been done in the Town of Ridgeway under the leadership of Denise (Jones) and the chamber,” he stated.
