Fairfield County Library moves into renovated facility
Renovations continue at the Fairfield County Library. According to Fairfield County Library Director Sarah McMaster, exciting features include new shelving, new furniture, a new DVD storage area and new wires and cables that will double the library’s computer capacity. Arrest in 2011 armed robbery case
Another cold case in Newberry County has been solved. On May 27, 2011, El Tipico, a restaurant located on Kendall Road, was robbed by two black males wearing masks and all black clothes. Based on the investigation, investigators were able to piece together information that implicated Zirclonzo Timain Washington, 20, 0f 107 Boundary St., Newberry in the robbery. Twenty-seven third graders from Richard Winn Academy and 30 kindergarten through 10th graders from Fairfield Association of Christian Educators enjoyed a luncheon to practice what they had learned during a 4-H manners class. Students were taught and able to practice manners from how to make introductions to how to set a table. A three course meal was enjoyed at Honeysuckle Acres to conclude the class.

In 2011, South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) officials report that the agency investigated 17,514 cases of abuse and/or neglect throughout the state.
