FAIRFIELD COUNTY — Due to the inclement weather, Fairfield County schools and administrative offices are currently closed and will remain closed tomorrow (Feb.12).

Because of the winter storm, Fairfield County schools dismissed early at the following times this morning (Feb. 11):

• Fairfield Magnet - 8:30 a.m.

• Fairfield Elementary - 9 a.m.

• Kelly Miller - 9 a.m.

• McCrorey-Liston- 9 a.m.

• Geiger - 9 a.m.

• Fairfield Middle and Fairfield Central - 9:45 a.m.

Superintendent J.R. Green said they new they would get some precipitation early, but didn’t believe the ground temperature would reach freezing temperatures until late in the afternoon.

However, that was not the way it turned out on county roads and Green made the decision to announce early release and further, cancel school tomorrow

“We made the call that there won’t be school tomorrow (Feb. 12) and will wait to make the decision for Thursday,” Green noted. “We will evaluate what the weather is like on late Wednesday before we make the call for Thursday.”

Green stated that all Fairfield County students did make it home safely following the early release.
