WINNSBORO — Fairfield Central High School junior Brianna Harris was the winner of the Fairfield County School District’s “Perfect Nine Weeks Attendance Incentive Award.”

The drawing was held Jan. 15, and she was presented with a Nexus Droid by the district’s attendance specialist Belva Bush. Each nine weeks, all students who have not missed a single day of school since August are eligible to win. The names are submitted to the district office by the schools’ attendance office and a drawing is held to determine which student is the winner.

The drawing from the first nine weeks was held on Oct. 24, 2013, and the winner was kindergartner Andrew Johnson from Geiger Elementary School. The next drawing will be held on March 24.

“Good attendance at school is essential,” Bush said. “Students cannot achieve academically if they are not attending school on a regular basis. Students who are frequently absent and fall behind in their course work may find it difficult, if not impossible, to catch up. We encourage all parents to ensure that their children are attending school regularly.”
