COLUMBIA — Fairfield Central senior basketball player Jada Martin was recently awarded WLTX’s female “Player of the Year” award.
Martin helped the Lady Griffins to their first region title in school history by averaging 13.6 points per game during the 2013-2014 season and shooting 46 percent from the floor. She was 29 percent from beyond the arc and 48 percent from the free throw line.
The recognition adds to a long list of awards for Martin including being voted the 2A State Player of the Year, Region III-AA Player of the Year, SCBCA All-State, HSSR Statewide All-State, South Carolina vs North Carolina All-Star, SCBCA Top 5 Senior and the WLTX Player of the Week in February.
WLTX’s “Player of the Year” award included a $1,000 scholarship.
Martin’s grade point average is near 4.5 and she has verbally committed to Spartanburg Methodist College, with plans to study computer science.
