WINNSBORO — This year the Eagles soared to victory in their homecoming game, defeating the Christian Academy Saints 42-20.

The Eagles scored first in this one on a touchdown run and a big momentum boost came on a fumble return for a touchdown by Nick Stillwell to give the Eagles a 21-13 lead in the third quarter. The Saints did not go quietly, however. They cut the lead to 21-20 and the Eagles led by only eight heading into the final quarter. For a full report on this Homecoming Game, including the announcement of the Homecoming Queen, see Tuesday’s edition of The Herald Independent.
