WINNSBORO — The Richard Winn Eagles had the number of the Golden Eagles from Pee Dee Friday night. RWA led throughout in the 53-26 victory. Eagle defensive backs intercepted several passes in the second half. John Coleman returned one for a pick six and Web Yongue had a pick that set up another score. Quarterback Matt Taylor found running lanes on quarterback draw plays and added two rushing touchdowns of his own.

Richard Winn led 26-18 at the half. Pee Dee cut the lead to 20-18 with three minutes remaining in the second quarter. RWA mixed in reverses, passes and running plays to add a touchdown before the half.

This was the final time Richard Winn squares off in football versus Pee Dee which is moving up to 11-man football next year. The Eagles played a lot of young players in this game with their lone eighth grader capping off the scoring for the Eagles with a fourth quarter rushing touchdown. For a complete write-up on the game, see Tuesday’s edition of The Herald Independent.
