WINNSBORO —Griffin basketball swept the Eau Claire Shamrocks tonight (Feb. 1) and won in convincing fashion.
Both of Fairfield Central’s varsity basketball teams led the entire game over the Shamrocks and swept the season series.
The Lady Griffins dominated Eau Claire for a 65-19 victory. Fairfield never trailed in the game and head coach Cedrick Simpson was thoroughly impressed with his team’s performance after the game.
“We played extremely well tonight and haven’t played the well in awhile,” he stated.
The Griffins put a bow on the doubleheader with a 75-62 win over the Shamrocks. Fairfield jumped out to a 14-2 lead and never looked back. Head coach Devin Liferidge was pleased with the offensive execution.
“We talked about playing fast and I believe that gives us the best chance to win,” he noted.
Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 5), when they play the Capitals at Columbia High School. Check out the Feb. 4 edition of The Herald Independent for a full game recap of the Eau Claire doubleheader.
