WINNSBORO — Fairfield Central (5-0) girls’ basketball team remained undefeated Tuesday night with a 50-23 victory over Lexington.
Fairfield’s Jada Martin scored a game-high 18 points off eight of 17 shooting from the floor. Tanise Davis chipped in 13 points off five of 14 shooting including three baskets from beyond the arc.
As a team, the Lady Griffs shot 38-percent. Fairfield’s defense came away with 19 steals, 10 of which were recorded by Martin. Martin also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. For those efforts, Martin was chosen as the player of the game.
Lexington never scored more than seven points in a quarter, and Fairfield led 20-12 at the half. The Lady Griffins outscored Lexington 30-11 in the second half.
Taylor Foulks paced Lexington with a team-high 16 points. There were no other Lady Wildcats to even break double digits in scoring.
Next up for Fairfield, they will compete in this weekend’s Richard Winn Christmas Tournament. The Griffins first opponent is Newberry, who Fairfield Central defeated 62-37 less than a week ago on Dec. 14. Tonight’s tip-off time at Richard Winn Academy was yet to be announced at press time.
