WINNSBORO — The Fairfield County Museum will host a mini-mall of sales offerings during the Fairfield County 43-Mile Big Grab Yard Sale.

The event is being sponsored by the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 from 9 a.m until 4 p.m. Several organizations will set up in the shade of the museum’s backyard pecan trees.

This expanded version of last year’s county yard sale will be the largest in the state, extending from Blythewood, Ridgeway and Winnsboro and back to Winnsboro. The route follows 1-77 Exit 24, Hwy 21 through Blythewood to Ridgeway, S.C. 34 East from Ridgeway to Winnsboro and merges with U.S. 321.

From U.S. 321 North the route continues to Winnsboro, on to S.C. 200 West, then to U.S. 321 Bypass, and turns south to continue to Blythewood Road back to Blythewood (exit 27). Many vendors are expected to participate.

The Fairfield County Museum Historical Association, Genealogical Society and other vendors will offer food, antiques, entertainment, and some unique items for sale and auction.

A silent auction will be set up for antique items with bidding ending at 3 p.m. Sept. 7. For a preview of some items and information about the silent auction, log on to the Fairfield County Genealogical Society’s website.

This year the Genealogical Society will offer a hot-off-the-press 2014 Fairfield County Trivia Calendar. This calendar, sponsored by many of the county’s businesses, is a collection of daily historical facts gleaned from early Fairfield County newspapers and old images in the museum archives.

Donations will be used to purchase much-needed equipment for the genealogy research room that includes microfilm reader/printer, video camera with tripod, large map/book friendly scanner and other items.

At this time, the museum is open to other vendors to join the Backyard Big Grab on a first-come first-served basis. Contact the museum for placement and resources. The museum is also asking for donations to be used in the yard sale, big items or antiques for the silent auction and bake sale items. Call for delivery or possible pick up.

All donations and vendor deadlines are Sept. 4. The Fairfield County Museum is located at 231 S. Congress St. in Winnsboro. Call 803-635-9811 for more information.
