Zoning appeals meeting rescheduled

WINNSBORO — A recent Fairfield County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting was unable to begin because there were not enough members present for an official quorum.


On the agenda was Ronnie Murphy’s request for a variance. Board member and building official Ron Stowers told The Herald Independent that Murphy had a manufactured home in an R1 zone — where manufactured homes are no longer permitted.


Requirements for home in an R1 zone changed during January 2012. Manufactured home are now only allowed in zones RD, RD1 and R2.


According to Stowers, Murphy exceeded the amount of time to re-establish the home in the zone. Murphy is contesting the amount of time that was exceeded and is appealing to allow another manufactured home into the R1 zone.


The meeting has been rescheduled for Oct. 21.
