Where’s the money?
Thirty years ago, Fairfield Co. started receiving money from the VC Summer Nuclear Power Plant.
All of the Fairfield Co. Councils and Administrations from the inception of receiving this money has hidden their spending of these funds by not using them in our Fairfield County budgets. The budgets are fixed by the County Administrator and County Council each year and the taxpayers have been taxed fully for the county expenditures to equal the budget. If the money from VC Summer had been added to our budget, our millage rate would be less than one-half what it is now.
Where was all of this money spent out of the budget? 2013 is the first year the funds from VC Summer has been put in the budget. The council and (Phil) Hinely claimed $8,710,524 was the current utilities taxes and they actually received $10,481,987.43. From 2004 to 2012 (nine years) $76,402,953.73 has been spent out of the budget — money they have not accounted for where or what it is spent for.
Each year of receiving these funds has built up to the point that they (council and administrator) have enriched themselves, their friends and family to the point, it should be criminal.
Low morals, unnecessary spending and greed has gripped our county.
