Carolina Community Actions offers assistance

FAIRFIELD COUNTY — Carolina Community Actions Inc. has funds available to assist low-income families with a variety of services including heating bills, water, mortgage and rent.

CCA also administers a family assessment program to assist individuals with obtaining employment, license for Certified Nursing Assistant, supplies, General Education Degree (GED) and child care. CCA’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and General Emergency Assistance Program (GEAP), assists eligible households with benefits up to $1,000.

The following is the intake schedule for emergency and non-emergency heating assistance and the required document for Fairfield County residents:

Applications are taken for non-emergency and emergency heating and water bills, rent and mortgage assistance from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 402 S. Congress Street in Winnsboro. Qualified households can receive assistance up to $500. Qualification is based on total gross household income during the past 30 days.

Programs are funded through the Department of Health and Human Services and administered through the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) in Columbia.
