COMMUNITY CALENDAR

TUESDAY, Oct. 16

• The 4-H Environmental Club is partnering with S.C. Department of Natural Resources to make duck boxes to promote conservation practices in the county. The plan is to sell the boxes or get people to sponsor boxes to go up in areas around the county. Local DNR officers are coming 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 to teach the club members about conservation and how to build the boxes. 4-H invites persons interested in building duck boxes to call Allison Coleman at 803-635-4722 Ext 112 or email her at ncolem2@clemson.edu for more information.

FRIDAY, Oct. 19

•In support of the Avon Foundation for Women there will be a fundraiser event at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Conference room sponsored by local Avon team members. The event will include a silent auction, kissing wall, product demonstrations, refreshments and much more. This is a free event that is open to the public and co-sponsored by Ebenezer A.M.E Church of 1108 W Peach Road, Winnsboro. For more information contact Shamieka B. FRIDAY, Oct. 20

•Winnsboro Woman’s Club Annual Ghost and Legends Lantern Tour will be held at 7 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 20. The cst is $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for children ages 8 to 13. Come learn about the ghostly and historical legends of Old Winnsboro and have a taste of history. Tours start at Song Bird Manor Bed and Breakfast. Call 635-6963 for reservations.

UPCOMING EVENTS

•The VFW post 8346 is having Turkey Shoots each Saturday night at 19:00 now through December 1 2012. This event is open to the public bring your friend and children are welcome. A prize awarded at each round. Food is available from the Ladies Auxiliary. You can bring your own 12 gauge shot gun or use a post gun.

• The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for The Town of Winnsboro’s New Annex Building, located at 610 Moultrie Street will be at 3 p.m. on Oct. 21.

•Fairfield Memorial Hospital will host Senior Connection from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. This will be a day of food, fellowship and fun. For more information about this event you may call Denise Blackwell at 635-0206.

• Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Diabetes Support Group will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 in the hospital’s conference room. Mac Russell, RD will be presenting the program which will be “Diabetes & Nutrition Facts”. Persons with diabetes and their adult family members are welcome. • The Fairfield Central High School Physical Education Department will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Basketball Game with the theme Coaches and Community vs. Cancer. The cost is $1.00 per person. The game is at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26.

• First Church of the Nazarene at 650 Ninth Street is holding a bake sale/casserole sale from 10 a.m.-3p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. Hot dogs, crafts, kids’ games, entertainment and a silent auction are part of the event.
