In recent weeks the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office has reported on a rise in copper theft at local churches and business.

The Winnsboro Public Safety is now facing the same type of case involving theft of cooper from air conditioning units.

It was discovered that someone stole copper, copper coils and aluminum totaling $10,000 from Fairfield Mental Health over the weekend.

There is a strong likelihood that these thefts are related here in the town, and the investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.

Copper theft has been a serious problem for the town and county, causing thousands in dollars in damage.

The community is urged to be on the lookout for any suspicious activities on, or near, homes and businesses and to report it to law enforcement.
