Another Fairfield County church has fallen victim to copper thieves. On Aug. 12 the Red Hill Baptist Church in Blackstock was burglarized.

Two air conditioning units were stolen sometime around Aug. 12 with a sheriff’s deputy noticing the theft that afternoon while on routine patrol.

Rev. Carl Jackson with the church confirmed for deputies that nothing else was stolen from the church. The stolen copper was valued at $4,400.

Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department Captain Brad Douglas said that the sheriff’s department has several leads they are pursuing in the recent rash of copper theft cases in the county.

He urged continued vigilance from community members and for them to support any suspicious vehicles or activities to law enforcement.
