WINNSBORO — On Jan. 31, the fifth through 12th grades enjoyed a visit from Joey Korn, the author of Abe’s Story, a Holocaust Memoir. Joey’s father, Abe, was a survivor of the Holocaust. Before he died, Abe Korn wrote of his experiences in eight different concentration camps, as well as a 45-day Death March from Auschwitz.
Korn told the emotional story of how his father gave his all to survive this horrible event in his life.
The students were amazed at the determination of one person and his drive to make a better life for himself once he was liberated. Joey Korn captured the hearts of many in the audience and allowed the students to ask heartfelt questions at the completion of the story.
When Korn read the emotional ending to the story, the students were speechless. This was an eye-opening event that allowed the students to see sides of bullying and how it only made Abe stronger.
