The Winnsboro Town Council made a long awaited announcement during Tuesday nights meeting as the result of their Aug. 27 work session.

Prior to the meeting, a presentation that was scheduled during the meeting took place in the parking lot of Winnsboro Town Hall.

During the presentation, Nancy McElroy from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) presented Winnsboro Mayor Roger Gaddy a USDA Community Facility Grant Check for $50,000 for the Winnsboro street sweeper.

During the meeting the council announced the names of the new municipal court judges.

This process has taken some time with Vanessa Hollins having to fill in after the other two seats were open, due to retired.

Hollins will serve as chief judge for the next two years with Jonathan Goode and Trey Spong serving for four year terms.

The term limits were determined by luck of the draw to ensure that all the seats are not open at once.

The judges will be sworn in at the next council meeting.

After a short executive session, council approved to extend the contract with the Upstate Pool Management company for the next three years. The contract is for pool maintenance and the upkeep of the public pool located in the town.

The contract included no changes in the cost for the first two years and a 2 percent increase during the third year.
