The Winnsboro Town Council had a seemingly short agenda coming into Tuesday’s meeting.

The new business section was quickly filled with concerns by councilman Clyde Sanders.

The first of three motions made by Sanders for the evening was to have the 23 flower pots that are located on Congress Street painted.

The pots which have taken a beating from the weather and elements are in need of a good painting.

The council agreed to have the pots painted with the agreement that council will have a voice in the color chosen.

The second addition to the agenda by Sanders was that the town assist the former Captain’s Galley location, which is now under new ownership, with clearing the fence line beside the building and blowing out the parking lot.

Council agreed with this as long as the business submits a letter to council.

Councilman Sanders concluded his time by donating $200 from his crime prevention funds to go towards the Walk One Back to School Bash.

Under the old business section was the town website.

For over a month, the town has been reviewing which company would be best to do their website.

The list was narrowed down from four and came down to Splash Omni media and VC3.

Council voted in favor of Splash Omni, with Councilman Bill Haslett voting against it.

Haslett has been vocal on this topic and favored VC3 as they have worked with other towns before, whereas Winnsboro will be Splash’s first town website.

Splash does provide web service for other businesses as well as the hospital system, however. The town will be entering into a one year contract with Splash.

With back to school in the air, councilman Danny Miller gave $300 to the Zion Hill Back to School event and $200 to the United House of Prayer event.

The meeting then went into executive session to discuss legal and contractual issues.
