Taking a moment to remember those who have gone on before us was the underlying theme at the 2012 Memorial Service sponsored by UniHealth Post-Acute Care Tanglewood on Tuesday afternoon.

The facility held its yearly program to give the residents, who my not otherwise have the chance to attend a memorial service for their friends, the opportunity to come together to worship.

During the program, spearheaded by Carolyn Jessee Senior Care Partner, there were poems, prayer, songs, a candle lighting service, and a message by Hospice Chaplain Ken Lake Jr.

Tatanish Campbell, community relations official with United Hospice, read a poem called “Gone From My Sight” by Henry van Dyke, which was followed by the singing of “Amazing Grace.”

The service was attended by 65 family, friends, residents, and staff who all came together to show their love and support for their loved ones.

This year’s program included participants from each of the departments that work to take care of the residents, from housekeeping, nursing , activities, medical records, residents, and the administration.

Carolyn Jessee , RN, Senior Care Partner at UPAC /Tanglewood said, ”I really think that the memorial service is very important to all members of our Tanglewood Family. We did not have this when I started three and half years ago, and I made it my mission. We all grieve, and we feel sympathy for others who are grieving. To reach out to others in pain is a very kind and beautiful thing.”
