One male has pleaded no contest in a sexual assault that occurred during summer school.
On July 2, a black female, age 15, reported that while at summer school at Fairfield Central High School she was approached by three black juvenile males, each age 15.
Two of the 15-year-olds requested that she perform a sex act on them for payment of $5.
The victim reported that one of the students hindered her from leaving the area, that he touched her inappropriately.
On Thursday, July 5 another female student was reported being approached in the cafeteria by one of the juveniles and being asked to perform a sexual act. The second female student did not press charges.
According to Captain Brad Douglas with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department, the student who inappropriately touched the victim was charged with assault and battery third degree because of the conversation and physical restraint combined with the inappropriate touching.
On Wednesday the male student entered a no contest guilty plea to the charges. He was placed on continued intensive probation, which he already was on from an offense earlier this spring.
There were no allegations that the other students involved had touched the victim, so their reportedly inappropriate comments were handled by the school as a disciplinary matter rather than having law enforcement charge the two teens.
The assault is classified as a level three disciplinary infraction under the school district’s code of conduct, the most severe level.
The teen charged in the July 2 incident was suspended for 10 days in March for a different level three infraction.
The teen, charged with third degree assault, was arrested in March and charged as one of three students who held a teenage girl down against her will, exposed her breast, took pictures and then placed their hands about the girl’s body.
The other two students in the March incident were not the same students as in the July incident.
In March the victim reported that one student inappropriately touched her breast during the incident as well.
The incident occurred in a Fairfield Central High School classroom on March 12.
The three teens were referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice for several days prior to a hearing with DJJ.
After hearings with the school district’s disciplinary committee, the young man was readmitted into school.
He attended Gordon Odessey Academy at that time. The 15-year-old was taking summer school at FCHS when the July 2 incident occurred.
