During Tuesday’s Town of Winnsboro monthly finance meeting, the council members were very active, tackling a full agenda.
The agenda included the replacement of meter reader trucks, replacing a National Guard Armory air conditioner unit, and filling vacancies within public safety and gas, water and sewer departments.
They also reviewed the comparison report of the four website companies that had previously been contacted.
At the conclusion of the finance meeting, the council had agreed to replace the old meter reader trucks, which are about 13-years-old and have high mileage, with three new Chevrolet trucks.
The estimated cost for the three trucks with trade in will be $56,505. The council has agreed to purchase the trucks from a local dealer.
The next order of business was the old National Guard Armory air conditioner, which is more than 30 years old and at this point has caused the town to refund a rental fee because of the heat.
Town council members agreed that the unit needed to be replaced.
In other news, the Winnsboro Department of Public Safety has been granted permission to fill one of eight vacancies that the department currently has.
Gas, water, and sewer were also given permission to fill positions. They will fill two of their five open positions.
It seems like another month will pass before closure will come on the website matter as the council continues to narrow down its options.
They have narrowed down the four companies now to two and have asked Connie Shackleford to contact the two finalist to see if they remove online bill pay, as it will be apart of the new financial software, will it lower the cost for the website.
