FAIRFIELD COUNTY — A one-car wreck along S.C. 269 killed a 21-year-old early Sunday morning.
Stephen Roof of Old Roof Road in Winnsboro died just a few miles from his residence, according to Fairfield County Coroner Barkley Ramsey.
The 2001 Jeep Cherokee that Roof was driving ran off the left side of the road and overturned around 3 a.m. Sunday.
According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, Roof was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.
The incident occurred 1.6 miles south of Winnsboro and remains under investigation by the SCHP.
