WINNSBORO — The Fairfield Central Lady Griffins won in convincing fashion Friday night in their match up with North Central.

Using smothering defense, they held the Lady Knights scoreless for the entire second quarter. That effort, coming on the heels of a first quarter burst that gave the Lady Griffins a 23-7 lead, allowed the team to cruise to victory in the second half of a 66-20 victory.

The visitors from Kershaw had no answer to a balanced Griffin offense. Tanise Davis led all scorers with 22 points for the Lady Griffins.

Other players in double figures included Jada Martin with 17 points, Chelsea Siebles with 11 and Chyna Moore with 10. The team improved to 13-3 on the season and 4-1 in region play with the victory.

Next up for the Griffins are the Columbia Capitals on Jan. 22 at Fairfield Central High School.
