The SIFE program is designed to foster an entrepreneurial approach that encourages creativity and resourcefulness. SIFE teams address a wide variety of issues and rather than mandating a uniform set of projects, teams have the opportunity to work within the SIFE framework while developing projects based on the diverse needs of people in different communities.
By using the business concepts they are learning in the classroom to help others, SIFE students develop stronger business and leadership skills, as well as a sense of service and responsibility to the community and world around them. Through their experiences, SIFE students are emerging as leaders who understand the opportunity for business to make a positive economic, social and environmental impact.
SIFE USA competitions are challenging, team-oriented events that create a sense of accountability and motivation for teams to continually improve the quality of their projects. They also provide an opportunity for collaboration and best-practice sharing, further strengthening the value of the learning experience and the overall effectiveness of the program.
In the United States, the competition process begins with a series of SIFE USA Regional Competitions held each year in March and April in cities across the nation. From the regional events top teams will gain the opportunity to advance to the SIFE USA National Competition held in May. After three days of activities progressing through the opening, semi-final and final rounds of competitions, one team will be named the SIFE USA National Champion and be invited to represent the United States at the SIFE World Cup.
Beyond the experience of the competition, these unique events are full of opportunities for networking, collaboration and best-practice sharing. SIFE USA partner companies have the opportunity to recruit future talent through career fairs held in conjunction with the competitions and participate in special events, such as the Top to Top Forum, Women In Business Forum and Top to Future-Top Forum, provide additional opportunities for mentorship and idea exchange.
