On Friday afternoon shortly after 1 p.m. a small fire broke out in the back of the Goody’s store off Highway 321 Bypass S.
Police Chief Freddie Lorrick said that there was some smoke damage in the store and that a few clothes burned in the fire.
He estimated there was under $1000 damage to the store, with the bulk of the damage coming to one particular rack of clothing.
Lorrick also believed the amount of smoke damage to be relatively minor.
The store was closed for several hours for cleanup but hoped to re-open Friday night or on Saturday.
The incident remains under investigation.
