During Sunday’s severe weather, Winnsboro resident Ken Black heard a commotion in his back yard.
In the windy conditions that followed the storm that brought hail to the area, one of the trees in his backyard was blown over.
He estimates the tree to be around 100 years old, noting it was a big tree when he moved in there 42 years ago.
Fortunately the only damage caused by the tree was to his yard fence, a bird bath and a flower garden.
“The tree fell in about the only place it could,” Black said.
He was thankful that no damage happened to his home, outbuildings or other houses nearby his Marion Street home.
Now Black is left with the problem of removing the tree.
He no longer gathers firewood and said that anyone who would like to harvest the wood from the tree should call him.
The tree looked to have a good bit of hard wood in it and that it would make good firewood.
