The Richard Winn Academy Eagles came up short to the Cathedral Academy Generals in Friday night’s face off.

The game started with Cathedral receiving but they were unsuccessful to score and turned the ball over on downs.

In the first quarter both teams saw the ball turned over on downs until the generals scored with 5:11 left on the clock.

The night was filled with flags on almost every play ranging from equipment to movement penalties. Corey Davis for the Eagles scored a touchdown; bring the score to 6-8 with Richard Winn leading at the half.

With a fumbled punt return the Cathedral Generals took the lead in the third quarter 14-8.

With 9:16 on the clock in the third the lights in the field went out causing a delay in the game for almost 30 minutes.

With 1:51 on the clock in the fourth quarter Reid Johnson ran for a touchdown, but after the kick off in the second half, receiving personal fouls, and one injury RWA just could not get back in the game, final score 26-14 in the General’s favor.

Coach Ken Atkerson said,” There has been some transition problems”, in refers to the team changing over to eight man football.

The Eagles will face Greenwood Christian School on Friday.

WINNSBORO — Meet Reecie, this week’s pet of the week. According to Fairfield County Adoption Center Director Janice Emerson, Reecie “is so sweet and has had a rough start, but has turned out to be one of the sweetest guys.”

Reecie needs a large fenced in yard and needs to be an inside/outside dog. He is neutered, current on all shots, and heartworm negative. This boy needs a chance to have a home and a family to love.

For more information, contact Janice Emerson at Fairfield County Adoption Center at 803-447-3602. She said that the adoption center is still in need of collars, leashes and canned cat and dog food.
