The Fairfield Career and Technology Center’s Horticulture Department will be hosting Community Appreciation Day at their Greenhouse Grand Opening April 10 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. In addition to a student-grown plant sale, there will be food, fun and door prizes.
“We are excited about this year’s plant sale,” said Ernest Manning, who has been at the Career Center nearly 27 years and teaches horticulture and criminology. “We have a brand new 30-by-60-foot state of the art greenhouse laboratory. The students have grown plants from seeds, plugs, cuttings and plantlets this year. They have planted in excess of 7,000 plugs including vegetables, bedding plants, hanging baskets, containers and ‘Knock Out’ roses. All students are involved in this Community Service Project at Fairfield Career and Technology Center.”
The Fairfield Career and Technology Center is located at 1451 U.S. Hwy. 321 N. in Winnsboro, 803-635-5506.
