WINNSBORO — Familiar faces, helpful staff, renovated show rooms and expanded inventory were on display Thursday as Farmer’s Home Furniture Company held a grand re-opening ceremony. The Winnsboro store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The establishment, located a 457 U.S. 321 Business South, featured a remodeled electronics area with expanded inventory. The bargain center was redone and the bed area is new.
Customers took notice.
“It’s nice that they expanded their inventory. These are great people to do business with,” said customer Emmanuel Richmond. Customers Katie Boyd and Patricia Thompson also approved of the new look and signage.
“This makes a lot of difference,” employee Mildred McCants said, “and it looks good. We are hoping these changes help the business (take it up to new heights).”
Of the employees, McCants has served longest at the Winnsboro location. “I am grateful for the opportunity Farmers gave me,” she said.
Chamber of Commerce President Terry Vickers predicted this will become a premier store and create a stronger chamber and stronger community.
“We are so excited that this company has shown faith in Fairfield County,” said Terry Vickers. “They invested money to upgrade this store because they see good things on the horizon for Winnsboro and Fairfield.”
The store has been open since 2001 and Robbins noted that while the business felt the ups and downs of the times, it continued to provide the best product and customer service possible.
“We believe in a brighter, better future (for this area) and that other businesses will follow this example and build around us,” manager Tony Robbins said. “We are 100 percent committed to Winnsboro developing. In doing so, we are following the dream of our founder Shannon Glass who opened the first store in a small town (much like Winnsboro) and relied upon hard work and basic goodness toward people.”
The daylong celebration featured special deals for customers, snacks, giveaways and more. For Robbins, this re-opening marks a new era for the store and community after 10 years of it serving the area in its previous capacity.
Representatives from the Farmer’s Home Furniture Store and the company corporate office in Columbus, Ga., were on hand for the re-opening. One of the largest furniture retailers in the Southeast, the company has 177 locations in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina.
