RIDGEWAY — The community turned out Friday and Saturday in Ridgeway to support local artists and artisans at the seventh annual Arts on the Ridge.
With a theme of Opening Doors to the Arts, the event included art exhibits, art sales, a children’s art show with awards, musical artists and an artist open forum.
In addition to the awards given, Friday included a wine and cheese tasting and an art walk through downtown Ridgeway. Artists had work on display at various Ridgeway downtown merchants. Friday night, locals told stories filled with local color as they shared their love of Ridgeway through storytelling.
The artists demonstrations at the Century House and the author round-table discussion were highlights from Saturday.
Fairfield County and Richland County students had art exhibits as well as an art show. Demonstrations of pottery, painting, photography, cane making, stamping, glass blowing, basket weaving and needle art were among the exhibits on display as the arts came alive in Ridgeway.
The annual event was sponsored by the Town of Ridgeway, First Citizen’s Bank and Trust, the Fairfield Arts Council and the Pig on the Ridge Committee.
