UPDATED: One murdered Friday in Winnsboro
by Cindy Pitts
Senior Reporter

One person is in jail after a fatal Friday night shooting on First Street in Winnsboro.

Derekee Johnson, 34, of Winnsboro allegedly shot 22-year-old Bobby McCloud, also of Winnsboro.

Just after 7 p.m. Friday, McCloud was found dead behind a vacant house on First Street.

Chief Freddie Lorick said the two men allegedly had a verbal altercation prior to the shooting.

Witness statements claim that Johnson was seen chasing McCloud and shooting at him.

Johnson reportedly shot McCloud several times and left the scene.

Bystanders saw that McCloud was hurt and tried administering first aid to him but the 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lorick adds that a bullet was also lodged in a home in the area.

He was arrested Saturday in Blythewood.

Lorick said on Monday afternoon that his department was still investigating the case and taking statements. The Winnsboro Police Department is also continuing to work on finding a motive in the case.
