The Rev. Edward Jeter, Pastor of Hassion Hill Baptist Church in Blair, was honored recently during the Black History Program in Whitmire.
The Rev. Jeter was the first African-American to work as a cashier at the Pantry in Whitmire, and the first African-American to work inside Monarch Mills in Union.
The Rev. Jeter is married to Evangelist Betty Jeter and they are blessed with four daughters (Anita Winbush, Minister Angelica Chiles, Minister Denise Hill and Evangelist Rebecca Barber), three grandchildren (Tracy Winbush Jr., Britney Shelton and DeJenique Hill) and six great-grandchildren ( Javaria, Darby, Chris, Jonathan, William, Daniel and Joshua Winbush).
