On Monday candidates had until noon to submit signed petitions that would qualify them to be on the ballot in the November election.
Candidates needed 5 percent of the district that they represented to sign the petition if they were to qualify.
The Fairfield County Board of Elections has until Aug. 15 to certify the petitions.
Carolyn B. Robinson and Vernon Plyant submitted petitions in the county council race for District 2.
In District 4 Kamau Marcharia and Mary W. Brown submitted petitions.
District 6 petitions were submitted by John McMeekin and Mary Lynn Kinely.
For Fairfield County School Board, petitions were filed by Danielle L. Miller and Paula Meisner Hartman for District 2.
In District 4 Arthur F. Lathan, Annie McDaniel, and Carrie Suber-O’Neal filed.
William T. Frick and Thomas “Tony’ Armstrong filed for District 6.
Kerry Matthews also filed for the soil and water commissioner position.
All of these candidates are nonpartisan and they will be on the election ballot in November provided the signatures are certified.
