Winnsboro residents didn’t allow the rain to stop them from enjoying the kick off of Third Thursday for the summer, sponsored by the Town of Winnsboro and Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce.
The event started at 5:30 p.m. at the Gazebo Park on Congress Street, as Terri Vickers, Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce president, welcomed guests and issued scavenger hunt clues.
As contestants took off on the Scavenger Hunt, DJ Papa Charlie’s music played them off to some upbeat music.
The scavenger hunt theme “Time Well Spent” took the contestants on a journey from the most familiar landmark in old Winnsboro, the beloved Town Clock, to Hoot’s on Main, where a dinner bell served as time piece.
The sky may have been cloudy outside but inside of local shops like Yellow Daisy and Abba’s Sweet Treats and Gift Boutique, the sun was shining with amazing deals and treats just in time for the summer.
What’s summer without blooms, at Petal Pushers Uptown contestants found a clock tucked in with blooms galore.
As the evening event came to an end, visitors enjoyed music by Keegen Johnson; a Winnsboro native, who now attends Francis Marion University in Florence. He is a self-taught musician with a beautiful singing voice.
The winners of the “Time Well Spent” Scavenger Hunt were Gary Light, Grier Hensley, Susan Taylor, Gianna Rhodes, and Montrell Sanders.
The next Third Thursday will be on June 21 from 5:30 -7 :30 p.m.
