A Banner Day

Students artists from Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science were winners in the South Carolina Association for School Librarians Children’s Book Award banner contest.

Student from across the state read from a selection of 20 books and created banners depicting the books. Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science students created a banner based on the book, “The Red Pyramid” (Riodan). On March 16, the Association selected the best banner submitted by schools.

Student artists included: Daniel Childers, Mary Katelyn Harsey, Dhavni Patel, Tierra Thomas, Kavona Rice, Rieka Gladney, Chakita Able, Jasmine Boyd, KaShinda Sims, Jonathan Edenfield, Jonathan Farrell, Cody McGauley, Lexie Myers, KaShinda Sims and Christian Gordon. (Special thanks to Ms. Kimi Daly for allowing Art Club students to spend time on the project, Mrs. Frankie O’Neal for hand-delivering the project to the conference in Greenville, and FMSMS media specialist, Mrs. Debbie Cooper.)
