Murder suspect arrested in New York

WINNSBORO — A 36-year-old Winnsboro man was arrested in Rochester, N.Y. early Friday morning for his involvement in the murder of a Winnsboro woman on July 4.Officers received a call about suspicious activity and located Sampson, who was carrying a gun and admitted to being wanted for murder in South Carolina.The Winnsboro Public Safety and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are working with Rochester officials to bring Sampson back to South Carolina to face the charges of a murder warrant.Winnsboro police responded to a Garden Street home at 3:50 a.m. July 4 and found Jennifer Monique Stone, 34, unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services were unable to revive Stone.

 

Woman drowns in rock quarry accident

BLACKSTOCK — A Great Falls woman died Wednesday after jumping from a cliff into the water in a rock quarry in Blackstock.Fairfield County Coroner Barkley Ramsey identified the woman as 26-year-old Brooke Lynn Huffstetler.Ramsey said the cause of death as asphyxiation due to drowning.
