ACT prep program yields high scores for FCHS

WINNSBORO — Fairfield Central High School’s graduating seniors from 2013 scored above the benchmark in every category on American College Testing (ACT), according to results released by the S.C. Department of Education.Fairfield test takers surpassed the benchmark of 14.2 by achieving and average of 15.6 in English; surpassing the 16.5 benchmark with an average score of 16.8 in Math; surpassing the benchmark of 16.2 in Reading with an average score of 16.6; as well as surpassing the benchmark of 16.5 with an average score of 16.6 in Science.Fairfield Central seniors also surpassed the average composite score of 15.9 with a score of 16.6.

Recreation master plan gets OK from county

WINNSBORO — Fairfield County Council approved a recreation master plan Monday night with a unanimous vote. Funding for the plan comes through $3.5 million ($500,000 per district) of the $24 million bond issued in 2013.Kenneth B. Simmons Associates and John Bowman Architect designed the plans.
