Since Aug. 3, 2010, Wilson has served as the Interim President.
Her full appointment as the 24th President of Allen University makes Wilson the first woman to serve in that post in the 141-year history of the University.
“This is a historic action at a historic institution. The Board of Trustees is pleased that Dr. Wilson is assuming full leadership at Allen University,” said Bishop Preston Warren Williams II, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “Dr. Wilson brings substantial experience and a serious commitment to higher education and expanding opportunities for Allen University and our students. We are very fortunate to have someone with her experience and vision to assist the University in continued success and progress. Dr. Wilson’s background as a strategic thinker and visionary, an engaging public speaker, a strong administrator and accomplished leader in fiscal management were very important to the Board of Trustees.”
Wilson has been with the University since 2006, where she has held positions as Chairperson for the Division of Humanities and Social Science, Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Executive Vice President.
Prior to her arrival at Allen University, Dr. Wilson worked as the Director of Peer Writing Consultants; an Administrative, Research, and Teaching Associate; and as the Editorial Assistant of The Journal of Business Communication at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. In addition, she worked as a Teaching and Writing Center Assistant at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind. She has also held faculty positions at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. and at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Va.

I look forward to working with the staff, faculty, alumni and Trustees to make Allen a premier institution for students in South Carolina and beyond as we continue to celebrate and preserve her history and her legacy.”

A native of Blair and the daughter of the late Robert and Louise Martin, Dr. Wilson is a graduate of Fairfield Central High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Communications from Voorhees College, Denmark, S.C.; a Master of Arts in English and American Literature from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Ind.; and a Doctor of Philosophy in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition and a concentration in Business and Administrative Communication from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.
She and her husband, Gregory, have a daughter and two sons.
