A Fairfield County volunteer fireman has been accused of making unwanted sexual advances toward a woman, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said. Ralph Marthers, a 51-year-old volunteer with the Community Fire Department, has been charged with criminal sexual conduct for an incident that allegedly took place at a home on Chestnut Street in Winnsboro on May 21.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim had had a fire on her property the night before the incident. She requested a copy of the fire report and Marthers offered to deliver it to her the following morning. At that time, the Sheriff’s Office said, there was allegedly some “unwanted touching.” Marthers also allegedly exposed himself to the victim.

Marthers is on the list of Fairfield County registered sex offenders for a 1997 charge of committing or attempting to commit a lewd act on a minor.
