Funeral services for Robert S. "Bob" smith, age 91, were held at 3:00 p.m on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Stephen Greene Baptist Church, conducted by The Reverend James P. Blackwelder with burial following in Royal Pines Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Thursday, September 27, 2007. He was born June 15, 1916 in Union to the late Earnest and Etha Mitchell Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Uniroyal as the overseer of maintenance. He was also the former owner of a trucking business. He was a U.S. Navy W.W. II veteran, a member of the Winnsboro Masonic Lodge # 11 and a Shriner. He played professional baseball with the House of David.

Surviving are sons, Bobby R. Smith and his wife, Dean, William L. Smith and his wife, Jean and Barney C. Smith and his wife, Diane all of Winnsboro; a daughter, Peggy Smith Barnum and her husband, Jim of Beebe, AR; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Ailene A. Smith, he was predeceased by a brother, William T Smith.

Active pallbearers were Jamie Barnum, Mark Smith, Marion Dove, Paul Elledge, Jody Burroughs and Mike O'Conner. Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Mayes, Junior Dove, Sheriff Herman Young and Donnie Anderson.

Pope Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
