On Monday afternoon, October 15, 2007 Twelve members of the Fairfield-Union FCL Club met at the lovely Lake Monticello home of Annette Clowney with Elsie Castles as joint hostess. The president, Ruth Ameen, called the meeting to order and Lola Dove gave the devotion. The Club Creed and flag salutes were repeated in unision.
Juanita Boyd was in charge of the program and told of things that could be done for our service men and their families. Even the small things, such as cards and letters from home are always welcomed - a box of cookies occasionally would be appreciated or a cup of coffee shared with one of their loved ones.
Some plans were made for the November and Decermber meetings. Possibly we will not have the Holiday House this year.
The American Bible Society met at Union Memorial PCA Church on Sunday.
About ten Churches belong to this society and a collection in excess of $8,000 was turned in. Part of this money will go to have Bibles printed and distrubted to many foreign countries, including Cuba, and to various other causes. Following the meeting everyone brought in a covered dish and much good food was available with a lot of "once a year" hugs.
The Anemone Garden Club invited members of the Woodbine Garden Club to join them at the St.John Episcopal Fellowship Hall for their plant exchange on Monday afternoon at 4:00. We sat in on their regular meeting and the exchange followed. Four members of the Woodbine Garden Club attended and enjoyed this meeting, going home with possibly more plants than they came with.
Thought for the week- "What a wonderful world this would be if people hated sin as they do people".
