Funeral services for Portia Virginia Bass, age 86, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Ridgeway, conducted by the Rev. Jack Williamson. Burial followed at Aimwell Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Pope Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

Mrs. Bass passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007.

She was the wife of the late John Robinson Bass.

Her warm heart, sweet spirit and joyful nature will be deeply missed by everyone who has known her.

She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Bass of Jacksonville, Frances Maddox of Ridgeway, Marolyn Smith and Carolyn Graham of Columbia; her sister Geneva Neeley of Columbia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; cousins, nephews a niece and many friends she loved.

Pope Funeral Home is serving the Bass family.
