Henry Ford Moseley, 79, died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Brithaven Nursing Facility in Jacksonville, N.C. graveside services with full military honors were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, at Coastal Carolina National Veterans Cemetery.
Born in Winnsboro, SC, on April 20, 1928, he was a son of the late James Millard Sr. and Emma Stewart Moseley. He graduated from Mt. Zion Institute and worked for the US Rubber Company before enlisting in the US Marine Corp. He was a retired Master Sargeant, veteran of?World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Viet Nam. A lifelong fan of softball, he coached many young men during his early years in Winnsboro. He was the past Commissioner of the Over 40 Softball Association at Camp Lejeune, NC and continued to play well into his 70’s.
Surviving are step-daughters, Anna Jones, Julie Howton and Melissa Earl of Jacksonville, NC.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by siblings: Lillie Mae Moseley, Ruby M. Branham, Lucille M. Helms, Emma M. Wilson, Evelyn M. Cooper Hall, Pearl M. Geddings, James Spencer Moseley, Reverent Hubert Moseley and J.M. Moseley, Jr.
Among the many nieces and nephews and their families who survive him are LaVerne G. Center and Carleen M. Walker of Winnsboro and Gordon Moseley of Columbia.
