The stars shine once more in Winnsboro as the Woman’s Club Shining Star Project lights up the night.

In the past, the Winnsboro Woman’s Club project has supported Palmetto Place, a shelter fort abused and neglected children, and last year, the funds raised from the project were used as a “love gift” for Tatiyahna Davis.

This year, the Shining Star project’s proceeds will benefit the family of Caitlyn Talbert. Caitlyn was born on August 22 with a diaphragmatic hernia. She has already had one surgery when she was just two days old and has to have regular checkups to see if further surgeries are necessary.

Caitlyn is the daughter of Jeff and Jackie Talbert. She has a brother, “J,” who is three years old.

With a donation of $5 or more per light, people can help Caitlyn’s family during the Christmas season, and also light the light in honor or memory of someone close to their own heart. Each donation adds a star to the Christmas tree, which is in the Woman's Club park at the corner of Washington and Vanderhorst Streets.

The donations for the Shining Stars should be made payable to the Winnsboro Woman’s Club. Please indicate the name of the one to be remembered or honored and also indicate the address and person the acknowledgement should be sent to, and the name and address of the giver.

Contributions may be mailed to:
