Homegoing services for Mrs. Blanche Byrd Craig, age 89, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6 2007, at Zion Hopewell Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gene Liles. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Mrs. Craig died in Winnsboro on Friday, November 30, 2007.

A native of Fairfield County, she was a daughter of the late Hazel and Julia Foster Byrd. Mrs. Craig was born on June 27, 1918 in Winnsboro She was a long time employee of Fairfield Manufacturing and retired in 1983.

She was married to Paul Craig, Sr., who predeceased her in death in 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Julia Payne of Philadelphia, PA, Mary Craig Sims (Arthur) of Blair, and Thelma Craig Bellamy of Winnsboro; two sons, Joe Craig, Sr. and Paul Craig, Jr. (Patricia) of Winnsboro; one sister, Leila Holmes of Spartanburg; she was grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grands; she also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A son and daughter-in-law Louis Craig (Mattie) also predeceased her in death.

Glover’s Memorial Chapel is serving the Craig family.
