The arrest of Mitford area resident Solomon Addarryll Young, 35, a Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office deputy believes, has cleared up three burglaries in the area.

Young, Lt. Mary Anne Phillips said, could not be ruled out in connection with other burglaries in that part of the County.

On Dec. 4, deputies went to pick up Young on an unrelated criminal sexual conduct charge.

According to a Sheriff’s Office Incident Report, a Great Falls woman alleged to deputies that she had agreed to give Young a ride for $20. When she arrived at the house, Young allegedly forced the woman to have sex with him by putting a knife to her throat.

When law enforcement arrived at Young’s residence, he ran from them.

“When the subject fled he ran along a path at the property line where we recovered stolen items from three different break - ins,” Phillips said.

According to an incident report on file with the Fairfield County Sheriff, on June 14 of this year, a Great Falls woman left her home at 9 a.m. to go to Lancaster. When she returned at noon, she discovered that her carport door had been kicked in. Once inside the residence, Young stole a pink heart - shaped canvas box, containing approximately $10 of state quarters. It is further alleged that Young entered the shed at the residence and stole a trimmer, valued at about $100.

On Dec. 4, the trimmer was recovered from Young’s property. He admitted to the theft and was charged with burglary second degree.

A chainsaw was also recovered from Young’s property. When he was questioned about the chainsaw, Young stated that he stole it out of an unlocked shed on Windsor Dr. The investigating officer was able to track down the owner and it was determined that the chainsaw was stolen sometime during the month of November. The value of the saw was estimated at $100.

Young was charged with entering without breaking and the chainsaw was returned to the owner.

On November 27, a deputy responded to a breaking and entering call on Catawba Road in Great Falls. A metal bolt was used to break a window to allow entrance into the home.

Missing from the residence was a three - quarter carat diamond ring with three diamonds, a one carat diamond ring containing eight diamonds, a credit card, a debit card, a money clip containing $100 and a water jug containing $400 worth of dimes. The perpetrator exited the residence through a sliding glass door.

The total value of the missing items is $3,720.

During an interview following his criminal sexual conduct charge, Young told Phillips that he did break into the home with a metal object found near the shed. He said that he only took the missing change, which he cashed in at a Lancaster grocery store for $275.

Shoe prints found at the burglary scene were consistent with a pair of boots belonging to Young. He admitted that he was wearing the shoes during the break - in.

Young was charged with grand larceny and burglary second degree in connection with the incident.
